Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Launched In India At RS46.99 Lakh
Volkswagen has officially launched the Tayron R-Line in India at an introductory price of ₹46.99 lakh, positioning it as the brand’s new flagship SUV. The model is essentially a larger three-row version of the Tiguan R-Line and is being locally assembled at Volkswagen’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant, which helps keep pricing competitive in the premium SUV segment.
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Price And India Positioning
The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line price in India starts at ₹46.99 lakh ex-showroom, making it slightly costlier than the five-seat Tiguan R-Line but still attractively placed for a premium 7-seater SUV. Despite offering an extra row of seats and a bigger footprint, the price gap between the two Volkswagen SUVs remains relatively small.

The Tayron also sits below its badge sibling, the Skoda Kodiaq, in terms of pricing difference, while offering similar mechanicals. With this launch, Volkswagen now has a strong flagship SUV option for Indian buyers looking for a premium European three-row SUV.
Engine, Performance And Key Features
The Tayron R-Line is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 204hp and 320Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels through an AWD system.

Performance remains a highlight, with the SUV capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kmph in a claimed 7.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 224 kmph. This makes it one of the quicker premium SUVs in its segment.
Feature highlights include a large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof and a powered tailgate. Buyers also get 12-way powered front seats with ventilation, memory and massage functions along with a Harman Kardon sound system.

Safety is comprehensive as well, with nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring and Level 2 ADAS features included.
Design, Interior And Rivals In India
Visually, the Tayron R-Line resembles the Tiguan R-Line but introduces subtle updates such as redesigned Matrix LED headlights, revised lighting elements and illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear. The SUV rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and features gloss-black cladding typical of the R-Line styling.

Built on the MQB EVO platform, the Tayron has a longer wheelbase than the Tiguan, translating into improved cabin space and a third seating row. Boot capacity stands at 345 litres, making it practical for family touring needs in India.
Inside, the cabin closely mirrors the Tiguan R-Line, apart from a distinctive silver dashboard trim. Premium upholstery, ambient lighting and digital cockpit elements reinforce its flagship positioning.
In India, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line competes with rivals such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and MG Majestor in the premium three-row SUV category.
With strong performance, premium features and local assembly advantages, the Tayron R-Line strengthens Volkswagen’s presence in India’s high-end SUV market while offering buyers a more spacious alternative to the Tiguan.
