MG Majestor Flagship SUV Confirmed, Gloster Discontinuation Planned
MG Majestor SUV India plans are now clearer as the brand prepares to phase out the Gloster and introduce a new flagship ICE SUV. Positioned in the premium three-row SUV segment, the Majestor aims to strengthen MG’s presence against established rivals.
MG Majestor To Replace Gloster — Key Details
MG recently introduced the Majestor as its new flagship ICE-powered SUV. It is based on the Gloster’s architecture but features revised styling, additional features and more off-road-focused hardware.

The Gloster, launched in 2020, initially received over 2,000 bookings in its first month and sold out for the 2020 model year. However, demand later declined, with monthly sales eventually dropping into single digits by the end of its lifecycle.
The Majestor will bring a more rugged appearance along with off-road enhancements such as a low-range transfer case, crawl mode and differential locking. These upgrades are intended to improve its positioning in the premium SUV category.
Segment Positioning, Price And Market Strategy
The Majestor is expected to launch around April with a price likely above Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). This places it directly in competition with SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.

MG considers the premium three-row SUV segment strategically important, accounting for roughly 35,000 to 40,000 units annually. The company is preparing a production capacity of more than 1,000 units per month for the Majestor.
With Indian buyers increasingly comfortable purchasing higher-priced vehicles, MG sees the Majestor as an opportunity to strengthen brand perception while improving margins in a stable but competitive segment.

The Majestor’s arrival marks a shift in MG’s flagship strategy in India. By replacing the Gloster with a more feature-rich and rugged SUV, the brand is aiming to stay relevant in the premium ICE SUV space.
