Three-Row Toyota Hyryder Spotted Testing, Could Rival Hyundai Alcazar
The Toyota Hyryder 7 seater has been spotted testing on public roads, signalling Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s plans to enter India’s growing three-row SUV segment. The upcoming model is expected to target large families and could rival SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar once launched.
Toyota Hyryder 7 Seater Spotted — Design And Testing Details
Recent spy shots show a heavily camouflaged SUV that appears to be a longer version of the current Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The extended rear overhang suggests space for a third row while the front design looks largely familiar.

The test vehicle carries elements such as split headlamps, alloy wheels, wheel arch cladding and a sleek glasshouse similar to the five-seat model. Toyota seems to have stretched the rear section rather than altering the wheelbase significantly to accommodate extra seating.
Reports indicate Toyota had earlier considered a three-row Corolla Cross derivative, but the project was shelved. The Hyryder-based seven-seater now appears to be the more cost-focused approach for India.
Features, Cabin And Hybrid Powertrain Expectations
Inside, the additional seating row could reduce boot space compared with the standard Hyryder, which offers up to 373 litres depending on the variant. The third row may include USB Type-C charging ports, cupholders and dedicated AC vents for added practicality.
Expected features include a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, ventilated front seats with electric adjustment, digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system. Safety could see Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera system and multiple airbags.
Powertrain options are likely to mirror the existing Hyryder lineup. This includes a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine and a strong-hybrid setup combining a petrol engine with an electric motor. Manual, automatic and e-CVT gearbox options are expected depending on the variant. An all-wheel-drive version has also reportedly been spotted under testing.
Expected Launch Timeline And Market Positioning
Testing activity suggests the project is progressing steadily. Some reports indicate a possible launch around late 2026, although timelines may vary depending on development progress.

The SUV is expected to sit above the current five-seat Hyryder and cater to buyers looking for efficient hybrid mobility with added practicality. If priced competitively, it could challenge models such as the Hyundai Alcazar in India’s three-row SUV space.
Toyota may also see parallel development from Maruti Suzuki, with a three-row Grand Vitara derivative rumoured to launch around a similar timeframe.
The upcoming three-row Hyryder reflects growing demand in India for larger yet efficient SUVs. With hybrid technology and family-focused practicality, it could become a significant entrant in the evolving midsize three-row SUV segment.
