Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Confirmed for India, Launch in Q1 2026

Volkswagen Tayron R Line Confirmed for India

Volkswagen India has officially confirmed that the Tayron R-Line SUV will be launched in the Indian market in Q1 2026. Once introduced, the Tayron R-Line will become Volkswagen’s flagship SUV in India and its only 7-seater offering, following the discontinuation of the Tiguan Allspace in 2021.

Positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will target buyers looking for a premium three-row SUV. In the Indian market, it will rival models such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian. Volkswagen will bring the Tayron to India via the CKD route, with local assembly planned at the company’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility.

Globally, the Tayron has evolved into a key model for Volkswagen after making its transition from a China-only SUV to a global product in 2024. It effectively replaces the Tiguan Allspace internationally and can be seen as a longer and more spacious version of the standard Tiguan.

Thanks to its larger dimensions and longer wheelbase, the Tayron R-Line is expected to offer a proper third row of seats, addressing one of the key limitations of the current Tiguan sold in India. The R-Line trim will also bring sportier design elements, including signature lighting details and a more aggressive exterior treatment.

Under the hood, the Tayron R-Line is expected to use Volkswagen’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a DSG automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. With its focus on space, performance and premium appeal, the Tayron R-Line will play a crucial role in strengthening Volkswagen’s SUV portfolio in India next year.
