The Nexon once again emerged as Tata Motors’ best-selling model. With 19,375 units sold in December, the compact SUV registered a strong 43 percent year-on-year growth, underlining its continued popularity despite rising competition. The Nexon alone contributed a significant chunk of Tata’s monthly volumes, reinforcing its position as the brand’s backbone in the passenger vehicle segment.

The Punch secured the second spot in Tata’s sales chart with 15,980 units sold. The micro SUV posted a modest 6 percent year-on-year growth, indicating steady demand. However, when compared to November, Punch sales declined by 15 percent, suggesting some softening ahead of the upcoming facelift scheduled for January 2026.

Among the hatchbacks, the Tiago and Altroz delivered mixed results. The Tiago recorded sales of 5,826 units, translating into a 16 percent year-on-year increase. The Altroz, on the other hand, witnessed one of the highest growth rates in Tata’s portfolio, with sales jumping 54 percent to 2,871 units, reflecting renewed interest in the premium hatchback.

Tata’s flagship SUVs, the Harrier and Safari, posted moderate but encouraging numbers. The Harrier clocked 2,378 units, registering an impressive 82 percent year-on-year growth, likely aided by the recent introduction of petrol variants. The Safari followed with 1,446 units sold, showing a marginal 4 percent year-on-year increase.

December 2025 also marked the first appearance of the Tata Sierra in the sales charts. The newly launched SUV recorded 291 units, largely representing initial dealer dispatches. Customer deliveries of the Sierra are scheduled to begin from January 15, 2026, which could provide a clearer picture of its market reception.

At the lower end of the spectrum, the Tigor sedan sold 775 units, reflecting a 26 percent year-on-year decline. This continues the downward trend for compact sedans amid strong SUV-led demand.

Overall, Nexon, Altroz and Harrier emerged as the biggest gainers for Tata Motors in December 2025, while the Curvv faced the sharpest fall. With new launches and facelifts lined up, Tata Motors will be looking to build momentum as it enters 2026.
