Chery-JLR Freelander 8 Interior Revealed With 46.3-Inch Display, Three-Row Luxury Cabin
Chery-JLR has unveiled the interior of the upcoming Freelander 8 ahead of its expected debut in China this August. The premium three-row SUV introduces a modern cabin with a 46.3-inch panoramic display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397-powered infotainment system, and a wide range of luxury features designed for both front and rear passengers.
Built under the newly established Freelander brand, the SUV is expected to be offered with both battery-electric (EV) and range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) powertrains. It is also expected to be exported to several international markets after its China launch.
Cabin Loaded With Technology And Premium Features
The Freelander 8 adopts a minimalist dashboard dominated by a 46.3-inch panoramic display that stretches almost the full width of the cabin. A 15.6-inch mini-LED touchscreen sits at the centre and is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8397 automotive processor, which is claimed to deliver significantly higher computing performance than the previous-generation platform.
Unlike many premium SUVs that rely entirely on touch controls, Chery-JLR has retained physical toggle switches and crystal-style rotary controls for easier operation. The cabin also features hidden air vents, twin sliding armrests, and a bridge-style centre console that gives it a clean, uncluttered appearance.
Premium materials include Nappa leather upholstery, open-pore real wood trim, and recycled aluminium accents. The SUV also gets a 23-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a 17.3-inch roof-mounted rear entertainment display, dual 50W wireless charging pads, a 22-litre centre storage compartment, and a 7.3-litre passcode-protected electric glovebox. Huawei’s Qiankun ADS intelligent driving system is also expected to be part of the package.
Three-Row Comfort, Electrified Powertrains And Launch Timeline
The Freelander 8 is currently showcased in a six-seat layout featuring second-row captain chairs with power adjustment, heating, ventilation, massage function, reclining backrests, and extendable leg rests. Rear occupants also get folding tray tables, USB Type-C ports, and a 10-litre temperature-controlled refrigerator.
Chery-JLR claims the SUV offers heated and ventilated seats across all three rows, including the third row, making it one of the few models in its segment to provide this feature. Safety equipment includes full-length curtain airbags and multiple side airbags covering all seating rows.
The Freelander 8 is expected to ride on an 800V electrical architecture and will reportedly be offered in both EV and REEV forms. Reports suggest the REEV variant could combine dual electric motors with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine acting as a range extender, while a 60.3 kWh battery is expected to provide a claimed 221 km WLTP electric-only range.
According to regulatory filings, the SUV measures 5,118 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, with a 3,040 mm wheelbase. Chery-JLR is expected to announce pricing and complete specifications when the Freelander 8 officially launches in China next month.
