BYD Seal 08 Launched In China With Up To 1,660 km range, Flash Charging

BYD has expanded its Ocean Network lineup with the launch of the new Seal 08 sedan in China. The premium model is offered in both all-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, with prices starting at CNY 196,900 (around USD 28,980).

The biggest highlight is its claimed range. The PHEV variant offers up to 1,660 km of combined CLTC range with a 400 km electric-only range, while the top-spec EV delivers up to 905 km on a single charge.

BYD Seal 08 Gets EV And PHEV Powertrains With Premium Features

The EV variants are built on an 800V high-voltage platform and support BYD’s flash charging technology. They also use the second-generation Blade Battery and produce up to 510 kW, allowing the flagship model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. Meanwhile, the PHEV combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with dual electric motors for a combined output of 400 kW.

The Seal 08 measures 5,150 mm long and rides on a 3,030 mm wheelbase. Standard equipment includes rear-wheel steering and the DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension, which adjusts damping based on road conditions.

Inside, the sedan gets dual zero-gravity front seats, ventilation and massage functions for all occupants, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 26-inch augmented reality head-up display, and LiDAR-assisted parking.

BYD has already started deliveries of the Seal 08 in China, where the new flagship sedan strengthens the brand’s presence in the premium EV and plug-in hybrid segment.
