This New BYD EV Claims 1000km Range

BYD has revealed a new flagship electric sedan that could push EV range expectations even further. The newly unveiled Seal 08 is designed as a mid-to-large premium sedan and showcases the company’s latest electric vehicle technologies, including the second-generation Blade Battery and megawatt flash charging capability.

The BYD Seal 08 is built on an advanced 800V high-voltage architecture and is expected to deliver a driving range of more than 1000km on a full charge. One of its biggest highlights is ultra-fast charging technology that can add up to 400km of range in just five minutes under ideal conditions.

Flagship EV With New Battery Technology

Powering the Seal 08 is BYD’s Blade Battery 2.0, which is designed to improve energy density and charging performance. The all-wheel-drive variant is expected to produce more than 480kW (around 644hp), enabling the electric sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in under five seconds.

Beyond performance, the Seal 08 also introduces several advanced chassis and driver assistance technologies. These include rear-wheel steering for improved maneuverability, the DiSus-A intelligent body control system and a roof-mounted LiDAR unit for advanced driver assistance features.

The new electric sedan follows BYD’s Ocean design language with a sleek fastback silhouette and modern lighting elements. Measuring 5150mm long with a 3030mm wheelbase, the Seal 08 sits firmly in the large luxury sedan segment.

BYD says the Seal 08 is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2026 and will form part of its upcoming Ocean 8 flagship lineup alongside the Sealion 08 SUV.
