6 New SUV Unveils and Launches Due in India Within the Next Two Weeks
India’s SUV segment is set for another busy phase, with six new models scheduled to be unveiled or launched over the next two weeks. Ranging from electric SUVs to premium offerings, these upcoming debuts underline how January continues to be a key month for new vehicle introductions in the Indian market.
Toyota Urban Cruiser to Make India Debut
Toyota Kirloskar Motor will hold the India debut of the Urban Cruiser on January 19. Already on sale in international markets, the electric SUV will be positioned as a sibling to the Maruti e Vitara but will feature a distinct front-end design inspired by Toyota’s latest global styling cues.
The Urban Cruiser is expected to be offered in two front-wheel-drive variants and could deliver a claimed driving range of up to 543 km.
Nissan Gravite MPV Launch Expected
Nissan is gearing up to launch the Gravite, a new sub-4 metre MPV based on the CMF-A+ platform. It will be closely related to the Renault Triber but will feature unique exterior elements such as revised grilles, bumpers, wheels, and updated lighting signatures.
Power is expected to come from a 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a five-speed manual or an automated manual transmission.
Renault Duster Set to Return to India
Renault is set to re-enter the mid-size SUV segment with the third-generation Duster on January 26. While the model is already available globally, the India-spec version is expected to feature several design revisions to suit local preferences.
Engine options are likely to include a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol unit.
Volkswagen Tayron India Debut Planned
Volkswagen will debut the Tayron in India on January 28. The new SUV will replace the Tiguan Allspace globally and will be positioned as a more premium offering in the brand’s local lineup.
At launch, Volkswagen is expected to introduce the seven-seat version of the Tayron, featuring highlights such as large alloy wheels, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, massage front seats, and multi-colour ambient lighting.
Maruti e Vitara Launch Likely by End of Month
Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the e Vitara towards the end of January. The electric SUV, which will rival models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, is confirmed to offer a driving range of up to 543 km in its top configuration.
Key features are expected to include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a powered driver’s seat, and a flexible rear seating layout.
Skoda Kushaq Facelift to Be Unveiled
Rounding off the list is the facelifted Skoda Kushaq, which is likely to be unveiled later this month. The updated SUV is expected to receive exterior design changes along with several new features.
These could include a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, while mechanicals are expected to remain unchanged.
