The Renault Duster has been officially unveiled in India in its third-generation avatar, marking the return of a nameplate that once defined the midsize SUV segment. First launched in 2012, the Duster played a key role in shaping this space, and with the 2026 model, Renault is aiming to re-establish its presence in one of the country’s most competitive SUV categories.

For India, the new Renault Duster will be offered exclusively with petrol powertrains. The headline option is a new 1.8-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine that uses a dual electric motor setup, placing the Duster alongside models like the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder in offering a full-hybrid configuration.

In addition, Renault will offer a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 163hp and 280Nm, along with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine for lower variants. Despite the Duster’s rugged positioning, there will be no AWD option available for the India-spec model.

While the overall silhouette is similar to the global third-generation Duster, the India-spec model gets several unique design elements. These include redesigned headlamps with eyebrow-style LED DRLs that double up as turn indicators, a revised grille with Duster branding and reworked front and rear bumpers. The rear also gets a connected LED tail-light bar, missing on the global version.

On the safety front, the 2026 Renault Duster comes with six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS and level 2 ADAS, making it the first Renault car in India to offer advanced driver assistance systems.
