Yamaha EC-06 Launched in India: 169 Km Range, 4 kWh Battery
India Yamaha Motor has officially launched the EC-06 electric scooter in the Indian market, marking the brand’s formal entry into the country’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler segment. Priced at Rs 1,67,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the EC-06 will initially be sold in selected cities through Yamaha’s Blue Square premium dealerships.
Yamaha EC-06: powertrain, range and charging
The Yamaha EC-06 is powered by an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor paired with a fixed 4 kWh battery pack. The setup produces a peak output of 6.7 kW (around 9 hp) and 26 Nm of torque, enabling a claimed top speed of 79 kmph. Yamaha has certified the scooter for a riding range of up to 169 km on a single charge.
The battery can be charged using a standard household socket, with a full charge taking around eight hours. Yamaha is offering a battery warranty of three years or 30,000 km. Both the motor and battery pack are rated IP67, while other electronic components carry IP65 certification for dust and water resistance.
Features, practicality and market positioning

The EC-06 comes with three riding modes – Eco, Standard and Power – along with a Reverse mode to assist low-speed manoeuvring. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and a rear coil spring unit, while braking is managed by 200 mm disc brakes at both ends with a Combi Brake System.
A colour LCD display, full LED lighting and smartphone connectivity via the Yamaha Motor Connect R app are standard. Practicality is enhanced by 24.5 litres of under-seat storage. Positioned as a city-focused electric scooter, the EC-06 targets urban commuters seeking long range and everyday usability.
