Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Spotted

The Volkswagen Taigun facelift has been spotted ahead of its expected debut in India, offering a clearer look at the design changes in store for the compact SUV. Following the recent launch of the updated Skoda Kushaq, its mechanical sibling, the Taigun is set to receive a mid-life refresh aimed at keeping it competitive in the crowded midsize SUV segment.

Recent images show multiple Taigun units parked together, revealing key exterior updates. Although these appear to be international-spec models, the overall design direction is likely to carry over to the India-bound version with minor market-specific tweaks. At the front, the Taigun facelift gets a revised grille with gloss black detailing, a silver skid plate-style element and reworked headlamps. The lighting setup appears inspired by the Tiguan, featuring a sleeker LED signature that lends the SUV a more premium look.

From the side, the silhouette remains familiar, but fresh alloy wheel designs help differentiate the facelift from the current model. The SUV continues to feature thick black cladding along the lower body. At the rear, the connected tail-lamp setup has been retained, though the internal detailing has been updated to give it a more modern lighting signature.

Expected interior updates and features

While the spy shots do not reveal the cabin, the Taigun facelift is expected to borrow updates introduced on the Kushaq facelift. These could include a refreshed interior colour scheme, updated trim materials and feature additions aimed at improving perceived quality and comfort.

Engines, dimensions and launch timeline

Mechanically, the Taigun facelift is expected to continue with the existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines. The 1.0-litre unit produces 115hp and 178Nm, while the 1.5-litre engine delivers 150hp and 250Nm, paired with manual and automatic gearbox options. Dimensions are also expected to remain unchanged. With the Kushaq facelift already on sale, Volkswagen is likely to introduce the updated Taigun in India in the coming months.
