Upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO: Top 5 Changes Explained
Mahindra is preparing a major update for its flagship three-row ICE SUV, currently known as the XUV700. With the mid-life facelift, the SUV will be renamed the Mahindra XUV 7XO, aligning it with the brand’s new naming strategy. Pre-bookings for the XUV 7XO are already open at Rs. 21,000, with the official launch and price announcement expected in January 2026.
While the underlying platform and powertrains remain familiar, the upcoming XUV 7XO brings meaningful changes in design, cabin experience and technology, aimed at keeping it competitive in the premium SUV segment.
What’s Changing on the Outside
The most visible updates are expected on the exterior. The XUV 7XO will feature a redesigned front fascia with sharper headlamps, a more upright six-slot upper grille and a larger lower air intake. These changes are expected to give the SUV a bolder and more assertive road presence compared to the current XUV700.
Mahindra has also confirmed the introduction of larger alloy wheels, with sizes going up to 19 inches. The new dual-tone alloy wheels, paired with wider tyres, should enhance both stance and visual appeal. At the rear, the XUV 7XO is likely to adopt new tail lamps with honeycomb-pattern inserts, drawing inspiration from Mahindra’s electric XEV 9S, and moving away from the conventional full-width light strip trend.
Interior and Technology Upgrades
Inside the cabin, the facelifted XUV 7XO is expected to take a noticeable step forward in terms of perceived luxury and technology. One of the standout changes could be the introduction of a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo, aimed at giving the interior a more premium and modern feel.
Another major highlight is the redesigned dashboard, which is expected to feature a triple-screen layout with three 12.3-inch high-definition displays. This setup is likely to include a dedicated passenger touchscreen, offering access to entertainment apps, media streaming and other connected features. Additional comfort-focused upgrades could include features such as an electric boss mode for the co-driver seat, second-row window blinds and fold-out tray tables, making the XUV 7XO more family-friendly.
What Remains Familiar and Launch Timeline
Mechanically, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is expected to continue with the same engine lineup as the XUV700. This includes the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the 2.2-litre diesel unit, both offered with manual and automatic transmission options. This approach allows Mahindra to focus on improving design and features without altering the proven powertrain setup.
Mahindra has already opened pre-bookings for the XUV 7XO with a booking amount of Rs. 21,000. Prices are expected to be announced on 5 January 2026, with deliveries likely to begin shortly after. The upcoming XUV 7XO appears to be aimed at buyers who want the familiarity and performance of the XUV700, but with a fresher design and a more tech-forward cabin experience.
