Skoda Introduces New Kylaq Trims in India, Automatic Options Get a Boost
Skoda has quietly reshaped the Kylaq’s position in India, not by changing the SUV itself, but by rethinking how it is offered to buyers. On the model’s first anniversary, the brand introduced two new trims that significantly widen the Kylaq’s reach in the fiercely competitive sub-4 metre SUV segment.
The newly added Classic Plus variant slots above the entry-level trim and, more importantly, brings a proper automatic transmission into the lower end of the Kylaq range. This is a key move. Indian buyers increasingly expect automatics even at accessible price points, and Skoda appears keen to remove the perception that its cars are better to drive than to live with.

Skoda has also expanded the upper end of the range with a new Prestige Plus trim. This creates a clearer step-up for buyers who want more features without jumping to a different model altogether. Alongside this, several comfort and driver-assist features have now been standardised across mid variants, signalling a stronger value-focused approach.
What makes this update important is timing. The compact SUV space is crowded with feature-rich rivals, many offering multiple automatic options. By expanding the Kylaq portfolio from a limited spread to a broader, more flexible line-up, Skoda is addressing one of the biggest reasons buyers looked elsewhere.
Looking ahead, the confirmation of a Kylaq Sportline by the end of 2026 hints at a sharper, more image-led version aimed at younger and enthusiast-oriented customers. Together, these changes suggest Skoda is no longer testing the waters with the Kylaq. It is committing to making the SUV work harder for India, both on paper and in showrooms.
