Ola Roadster X Plus (501 km Range) Hits Roads Jan

Ola Electric is preparing to deliver one of its most ambitious products yet. The Roadster X Plus, armed with a 501 km certified range, is set to hit the roads on January 20. With this, Ola isn’t just launching another EV; it’s making a bold pitch to solve India’s biggest barrier to electric two-wheelers: range anxiety.

At the core of this motorcycle is Ola’s self-developed 4680 Bharat Cell, the company’s first fully in-house battery technology to receive government certification. This marks a significant step toward localising critical EV components and reducing long-term dependency on imports. For a young brand, achieving CMVR clearance from iCAT for an indigenous battery is a milestone that strengthens India’s EV manufacturing capability.

The motorcycle itself takes a different approach from typical city-focused EVs. Its 9.1 kWh pack, brake-by-wire system and IP67-certified architecture are designed for inter-city travel, especially in regions where charging infrastructure is still limited. Ola’s claim is simple: if the network isn’t perfect yet, build a product that can go far enough without depending on it.

Performance remains a strong focus. With a 0 to 40 kmph time of 2.7 seconds and a 125 kmph top speed, the Roadster X Plus aims to bridge the gap between daily riders and enthusiasts who want electric without compromise.

If Ola executes on reliability and after-sales, this model could become a turning point for long-distance EV adoption in India.
