Spotted: India’s New Renault Duster Takes a Different Design Route
Renault’s comeback strategy in India is finally taking shape, and the next-gen Duster is at the centre of it. Fresh spy shots show that the India-spec model isn’t just a copy of the global version. Renault is deliberately reshaping its most iconic SUV to suit Indian expectations, competition and cost realities.
The most visible shift is up front. The Y-shaped DRLs seen on the global model have been replaced with inward-tapering units, giving the SUV a sharper, more familiar look for Indian buyers. Even the fog lamp placement has changed, moving outward to give the bumper a wider stance. These tweaks aren’t cosmetic. They make the Duster look tougher, which is essential in a market ruled by road presence.

The grille pattern is also unique to India, with wider inserts that help differentiate the model in a segment full of aggressive face designs. Along the sides, the 18-inch diamond-cut alloys from the global car remain, hinting at Renault’s intention to keep a premium flavour.
Inside, Renault is expected to localise colours and materials while staying close to the global layout. India may not get a sunroof, but ventilated seats are likely to replace heated ones. A 360-degree camera, six airbags and Level 2 ADAS could make the Duster one of the safest options in its price band.

For Renault, the design changes aren’t just styling decisions. They’re part of a bigger push to re-establish the Duster as a serious rival in India’s crowded SUV space ahead of its January debut.
