Nissan Leaf Beats Rivals to Win Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year 2026
The Nissan Leaf has been named the Supreme Winner of the 2026 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY). The award was announced around International Women’s Day and recognises the best car chosen by a global jury of female automotive journalists.
A panel of 86 jurors from 55 countries voted in the competition, evaluating vehicles based on factors such as technology, efficiency, practicality and everyday usability. The redesigned electric car ultimately secured the top honour after a close voting process.

The new Leaf beat several category winners to claim the overall title. Finalists included the Skoda Elroq, Mercedes‑Benz CLA, Hyundai Ioniq 9, Toyota 4Runner and Lamborghini Temerario.
The win marks another milestone for Nissan’s long-running electric model, which has now evolved into a completely redesigned generation aimed at improving practicality and usability.
The Leaf also succeeds the Hyundai Santa Fe, which was named the Supreme Winner in the 2025 edition of the awards.
Why the New Nissan Leaf Impressed the Jury

According to the WWCOTY jury, the latest Leaf stands out for offering smooth and quiet driving along with strong efficiency, particularly in urban and suburban environments.
Journalists also highlighted the model’s spacious cabin, user‑friendly technology and overall ease of use, describing it as a mature and practical approach to electric mobility.
The redesigned Leaf is also among the finalists for the 2026 World Car of the Year award, with the winner set to be announced at the New York International Auto Show on April 1.
