New Tata Harrier Delivers 25.9 kmpl, Safari Hits 216 kmph in Official Tests

Tata Harrier & Safari Petrol

Tata Motors has officially shared new performance benchmarks for the petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari, highlighting the results of their recent NATRAX trials. The company’s Hyperion Turbo GDi petrol engine has delivered notable numbers, strengthening Tata’s push toward a more performance-focused petrol lineup.

The Harrier recorded an impressive 25.9 kmpl mileage during testing, a figure that places the new powertrain among the more efficient options in the segment. With rising fuel prices influencing buying decisions across India, this efficiency metric gives Tata a strategic advantage, especially for buyers shifting from diesel to petrol SUVs.

Meanwhile, the new Safari reached a top speed of 216 kmph at NATRAX. While top-speed tests are far from real-world driving conditions, they demonstrate the engine’s capabilities and the platform’s stability at higher performance thresholds.

Both SUVs are powered by Tata’s Hyperion Turbo GDi engine, which is part of the company’s broader push toward modern, cleaner and more refined petrol powertrains. As the industry adjusts to tightening emission norms and changing customer preferences, Tata’s focus on advanced petrol technology signals the direction of its next product cycle.

These numbers arrive at a crucial time as Tata prepares to expand its petrol offerings across more models in 2026. For prospective buyers, the tests offer early insight into how the new-generation Harrier and Safari may perform once they reach customer hands.
