Mahindra Announces Rs 15,000 Crore New Plant Investment For EVs And SUVs

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a major long-term investment plan worth Rs 15,000 crore to build a next-generation manufacturing ecosystem in India. The new greenfield facility near Nagpur will focus on future SUVs, electric vehicles and conventional models while strengthening the company’s global competitiveness.

New Mahindra Plant And Investment Details

The upcoming plant will be developed on a large greenfield site near Nagpur in Maharashtra. Production is expected to begin around 2028 and the facility will gradually scale up to become one of Mahindra’s largest manufacturing locations.

Once fully operational, the plant is expected to produce over five lakh vehicles annually along with significant tractor production capacity. The project aims to support both domestic demand and export markets.

The new facility will support multiple propulsion technologies including internal combustion engines and electric vehicles. It will also accommodate future modular platforms such as the NU_IQ architecture.

Mahindra’s INGLO-based electric lineup expansion is also expected to benefit from this investment as the company prepares a wider range of future-ready SUVs and EVs.

Manufacturing Ecosystem And Future Impact

Mahindra plans to develop a dedicated supplier ecosystem alongside the plant to improve localisation and production efficiency. Additional land across Maharashtra will also be secured for engine development, new technologies and product expansion.

The investment is expected to create significant employment opportunities and strengthen India’s position as a global automotive manufacturing hub while supporting Mahindra’s long-term growth plans.
