2026 Lexus ES India launch

Lexus has confirmed that the new-generation ES luxury sedan will launch in India on March 20. The eighth-generation model made its global debut at the Shanghai Motor Show last year and will now arrive as the brand’s entry-level luxury sedan for the Indian market.

The updated ES introduces several changes including a revised exterior design, larger dimensions and a more technology-focused cabin.

Design, Dimensions And Platform

Compared to the previous model, the new Lexus ES has grown in size. The sedan is around 165 mm longer and the wheelbase has increased by 80 mm, which should translate into better rear-seat space.

The car is based on the TNGA GA-K platform, which supports multiple powertrain options including hybrid and electric configurations.

In terms of styling, the new ES draws inspiration from the LF-ZC concept. The front features angular daytime running lights, horizontally arranged projector headlamps and a sculpted bonnet. At the rear, the sedan gets a coupe-like sloping roofline and a slim light strip connecting the tail lamps.

Inside the cabin, Lexus has introduced a more modern layout with a freestanding 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Higher variants globally also offer a Mark Levinson premium sound system.

The dashboard integrates illuminated touch-based switches that become visible once the vehicle is powered on, adding a more futuristic feel to the cabin.

Globally, the ES is available with hybrid options such as the ES 300h and ES 350h, both powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an e-CVT transmission. Lexus also offers fully electric versions internationally, including the ES 350e and the more powerful ES 500e.

It remains unclear which powertrain options will be offered in India at launch. Once introduced, the new ES will compete with luxury sedans such as the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class in the Indian market.
