At the top of the chart is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG, with sales of nearly 1.3 lakh units during FY2025. Its success underlines the strong demand for spacious, practical and economical family cars, especially among fleet operators and large households. The Wagon R and Dzire follow closely, both crossing major volume milestones and reinforcing Maruti’s long-standing dominance in the CNG space.

Compact hatchbacks continue to form the backbone of CNG sales. Models like Wagon R, Dzire, Eeco, Swift and Baleno together account for a large share of total volumes, highlighting that affordability and reliability remain key decision factors for Indian buyers. Even premium hatchbacks have found steady demand, suggesting growing acceptance beyond entry-level buyers.

CNG-powered SUVs are also gaining traction. The Tata Punch CNG stands out with strong volumes, while models such as the Brezza, Nexon, Grand Vitara and Hyryder indicate a gradual shift towards cleaner fuel options in the SUV segment. Buyers are increasingly open to CNG SUVs as manufacturers improve boot space and overall packaging.

Tata Motors and Hyundai have built a noticeable presence with multiple models in the top 25, though Maruti Suzuki continues to lead by a wide margin. Overall, FY2025 CNG sales data confirms that CNG is no longer a niche alternative but a mainstream fuel choice for cost-conscious Indian car buyers.
