2026 Cupra Born Facelift Brings Back Real Buttons, Adds New Interior Tech
Cupra has revealed the updated 2026 Born electric hatchback with a series of design tweaks and interior upgrades. The mid-cycle update focuses heavily on usability, bringing back traditional steering wheel buttons in place of the touch-capacitive controls used previously.
The facelifted Born also gains subtle styling changes and additional technology upgrades, making the electric hot hatch more appealing for buyers looking for a sporty EV.
Updated Design And Interior Improvements

Visually, the refreshed Cupra Born receives revised headlights and taillights that now feature triangular lighting elements. The bumpers have also been redesigned to give the electric hatchback a more aggressive appearance.
Inside, the biggest change is the return of physical buttons on the steering wheel, replacing the controversial touch-sensitive controls. Cupra has also added four window switches instead of the previous two, addressing complaints about the earlier setup.
The cabin now features a larger 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Android-based software along with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional upgrades include improved interior materials, illuminated door handles, updated rear air vents and an optional 10-speaker Sennheiser sound system. A head-up display with augmented reality functionality is also available.
Powertrain, Range And Production Details

The range-topping Born VZ produces 322 horsepower and uses a 79 kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated driving range of up to 600 km. It can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in around 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 km/h.
The Endurance variant produces 228 hp while using the same 79 kWh battery and similar range figures. An entry-level Plus trim produces 188 hp and uses a smaller 58 kWh battery pack with an estimated range of about 450 km.
Cupra has also introduced one-pedal driving for the Born, while the Endurance and VZ variants add a launch control function for quicker acceleration.
Production of the facelifted Born will begin at Volkswagen Group’s plant in Zwickau, Germany in the second quarter of 2026, with deliveries expected to start later in the summer.
