Mahindra & Mahindra has opened bookings for the new XUV 7XO in India, and demand has been exceptionally strong from day one. While customer deliveries have already started, they are currently limited to select variants, leading to widely varying waiting periods across the range.

Mahindra XUV 7XO waiting period details

Depending on the variant, engine and drivetrain, the waiting period for the Mahindra XUV 7XO currently ranges from as little as four weeks to as much as 12 months. The longest delays are being faced by buyers opting for the entry-level AX variant, where both petrol and diesel manual versions are quoted at waiting periods of up to a year. Automatic gearboxes are not offered on this trim.

Mid-spec AX3 and AX5 variants, across petrol and diesel powertrains and manual or automatic transmissions, are seeing waiting periods of around five months. The AX7 variants are among the quickest to reach customers, with petrol manual and automatic versions quoted at roughly four weeks, while diesel AX7 variants require close to six weeks.

At the top of the lineup, AX7L variants see relatively longer timelines. Petrol automatic versions are facing waiting periods of around four months, while diesel variants, including the AWD automatic exclusive to this trim, are quoted at close to six months. Mahindra has clarified that all waiting periods are indicative and may vary depending on location and dealer stock.

Strong demand and product highlights

Mahindra confirmed that by 2 pm on the opening day of bookings, the XUV 7XO had already amassed a significant number of reservations, translating into a booking value exceeding Rs. 20,500 crore at ex-showroom prices. On the product front, the XUV 7XO follows an evolutionary design approach over the XUV700 but features a comprehensively updated cabin with a triple-screen layout. Mechanical updates include a revised suspension setup, while engine options remain unchanged with the familiar 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel units paired with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
