Tata Punch Accomplished+ S vs Nexon Creative: Which Offers Better Value at Rs 10 Lakh?
With Tata Motors updating the Punch with a turbo‑petrol engine and more features, its top‑spec Accomplished+ S variant now overlaps in price with the Nexon Creative. Both sit just around the Rs 10 lakh mark, raising a genuine dilemma for buyers. One offers more features at a lower price, while the other brings extra size and road presence. Here’s how the two compare for Indian buyers.
Tata Punch Accomplished+ S vs Nexon Creative: Key Comparison
| Parameter | Punch Accomplished+ S | Nexon Creative |
|---|---|---|
| Price (ex‑showroom) | Rs 9.80 lakh | Rs 10 lakh |
| Engine | 1.2L turbo‑petrol | 1.2L turbo‑petrol |
| Power | 120 hp | 120 hp |
| Torque | 170 Nm | 170 Nm |
| Gearbox | 6‑speed MT | 6‑speed MT |
| Kerb weight* | ~1,143 kg | ~1,340 kg |
| Boot space | 366 litres | 382 litres |
Dimensions and Road Presence
The Nexon is clearly the larger SUV in almost every measurable way. It is wider, taller and has a longer wheelbase, which translates into better cabin space and a stronger road presence. Ground clearance is also higher on the Nexon, making it better suited for rough roads.
The Punch, however, benefits from a lighter body. While it is smaller overall, it still offers respectable boot space and is easier to manoeuvre in tight city conditions.
Engine and Performance
Both SUVs use Tata’s 1.2‑litre turbo‑petrol engine producing 120 hp and 170 Nm, paired with a 6‑speed manual gearbox. The key difference lies in weight. The Punch’s significantly lower kerb weight gives it a better power‑to‑weight and torque‑to‑weight ratio.
On paper, this should make the Punch feel more responsive in city driving, while the Nexon’s extra weight may slightly blunt outright performance despite using the same engine.
Exterior Features
The top‑spec Punch Accomplished+ S enjoys a few advantages over the Nexon Creative. It gets LED front fog lamps and a connected LED tail‑lamp setup, features that are missing on the mid‑spec Nexon. Alloy wheel size remains the same on both.
Most other exterior elements are similar, including LED lighting, body‑coloured door handles and electrically adjustable ORVMs.
Interior and Features
This is where the Punch Accomplished+ S clearly pulls ahead. It offers a fully digital instrument cluster, a single‑pane sunroof, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting and an 8‑speaker audio system. The Nexon Creative misses out on all of these.
Both SUVs get a 10.25‑inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control and connected car technology. However, the feature gap strongly favours the Punch at this price point.
Driving Tech
Both variants offer drive modes and cruise control. The Nexon adds a Sports mode, which is absent on the Punch. Apart from this, their driving tech offerings are largely similar.
Safety Equipment
Safety levels are strong on both sides, with six airbags, ESC and a 360‑degree camera system offered on both variants. The Punch adds a few extra features such as TPMS, an auto‑dimming IRVM and hill start and hill descent control.
Neither of these variants offers ADAS or an electronic parking brake.
Verdict: Which One Makes More Sense at Rs 10 Lakh?
If maximum features and stronger performance value are your priorities, the Tata Punch Accomplished+ S makes a very strong case. It offers more equipment, quicker charging performance and better power‑to‑weight figures, all while undercutting the Nexon on price.
The Nexon Creative still appeals if you value a larger cabin, better road presence and slightly more boot space. However, considering the price overlap, the Punch Accomplished+ S delivers better overall value for money at the Rs 10 lakh mark for most Indian buyers.
