Tata Motors and Stellantis Sign New MoU as Joint Venture Completes 20 Years
The Tata Motors Stellantis joint venture has completed 20 years in India, with both companies signing a new Memorandum of Understanding to explore expanded collaboration. The partnership, operated through Fiat India Automobiles Private Limited (FIAPL), has produced over 1.37 million vehicles so far.
20 Years of Tata–Stellantis Joint Venture
The 50:50 joint venture employs nearly 5,000 people and currently produces about 222,000 vehicles annually. Manufacturing operations are based at the Ranjangaon facility near Pune.
The plant produces four Jeep models alongside Tata Motors passenger vehicles including Nexon, Altroz and Curvv. Over the years, the facility has become an important manufacturing base for both companies in India.
New MoU and Future Collaboration Focus
The newly signed MoU aims to explore further collaboration in manufacturing, engineering and supply chain operations across India and global markets. The agreement builds on FIAPL’s established strengths in production, powertrain development and logistics capabilities.
Both companies highlighted the long-standing partnership and its role in supporting innovation, manufacturing growth and future-ready mobility solutions.
Manufacturing Capabilities and Global Presence

The Ranjangaon facility includes in-house production of engines, transmissions and traction motors. Vehicles manufactured here are also exported to markets such as Japan and South Africa.
As the partnership enters its third decade, the focus remains on strengthening manufacturing collaboration and supporting sustainable growth in India’s automotive sector.
