SAIC Z7 EV Revealed With Porsche Taycan-Like Design
SAIC Motor has unveiled a new electric sedan called the Z7, and its design has immediately drawn comparisons with the Porsche Taycan. The new EV appears to take heavy inspiration from the Taycan’s sleek silhouette, body surfacing and overall proportions while being expected to cost significantly less.
Taycan-Inspired Design

The SAIC Z7 features a low-slung stance and flowing roofline similar to Porsche’s electric sports sedan. Design elements such as the front fender vent, vertical air intakes in the bumper and a diffuser-style rear bumper closely resemble the Taycan. The company has also revealed a wagon version called the Z7T, which mirrors the sporty estate styling seen in Taycan wagon variants.
Interior and Features

Inside, the Z7 adopts a more futuristic approach with a large freestanding touchscreen that can move electronically in multiple directions. The cabin is expected to offer features like a head-up display, panoramic glass roof, matrix LED headlights and Brembo brakes. The vehicle will also include an advanced driver assistance system with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.
Battery and Expected Price

Reports suggest the Z7 will be offered with an 80 kWh battery for rear-wheel-drive models and a larger 100 kWh pack for all-wheel-drive versions. It is expected to rival the Xiaomi SU7 in China and could be priced between ¥220,000 and ¥310,000, far lower than the Porsche Taycan.
