Royal Enfield capacity expansion

Royal Enfield capacity expansion plans have moved forward as Eicher Motors approved a ₹958 crore investment to increase motorcycle production capacity in India. The expansion aims to raise total annual capacity from 14.6 lakh units to 20 lakh units across its manufacturing network.

₹958 Crore Expansion Plan and Production Targets

The investment will be used for a brownfield expansion at the company’s Cheyyar manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The project will be funded through internal accruals, according to the company’s regulatory filing.

Capacity ramp-up will begin in the first quarter of FY 2026-27 and is expected to be completed by FY 2027-28. The expansion will add about 5.4 lakh units annually, representing roughly a 37 percent increase over current capacity.

Manufacturing Context and Industry Impact

Eicher Motors noted that existing production capacity is operating close to full utilisation, prompting the expansion to meet rising demand for Royal Enfield motorcycles.

Royal Enfield continues to operate multiple manufacturing facilities in India and has been expanding its international presence. The Cheyyar plant expansion highlights the company’s focus on strengthening production infrastructure while supporting future growth.

The investment will be funded entirely through internal resources, indicating stable cash flows and financial strength to support the planned capacity increase.
