Maruti Brezza Turns 10 in India With 14 Lakh Sales, Facelift Coming Soon
The Maruti Brezza has completed ten years in the Indian market, marking an important milestone for one of the country’s most successful compact SUVs. Since its debut in March 2016, the model has recorded cumulative sales of more than 14 lakh units across two generations, establishing a strong presence in the competitive sub‑4 metre SUV segment.
Brezza’s 10-Year Journey in India
The SUV was first introduced as the Vitara Brezza with a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh (ex‑showroom). It was powered by a 1.3‑litre diesel engine paired with manual and AMT gearbox options. With limited direct competition at the time, the model quickly gained popularity and monthly sales often crossed the 12,000‑unit mark.

A major milestone came in 2020 when the Brezza crossed five lakh total sales. Around the same time, the SUV received a facelift and switched to a 1.5‑litre petrol engine after the diesel unit was discontinued.
In 2022, Maruti Suzuki launched the new‑generation Brezza with a refreshed design, more features and a factory‑fitted CNG option. By December 2023, cumulative sales had already crossed the 10 lakh mark.
Brezza Facelift Expected Soon
As the model enters its tenth year, a mid‑cycle facelift of the current Brezza is expected soon. Test vehicles spotted on multiple occasions suggest updates such as a revised grille, new alloy wheels and possible interior upgrades.
