Power-Packed Thar Roxx 4×4 Specifications
The Thar Roxx 4×4 packs a punch with its 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine, delivering 175hp and 370Nm of torque. The 4×2 diesel variants come with slightly lower power output 152hp and 320Nm. Equipped with Mahindra’s 4XPLOR System, the 4×4 models feature electronic locking differentials and terrain modes for Snow, Sand, and Mud driving.
Key Off-Road Features: Smart Crawl & Intelli Turn
4×4 Roxx is designed for hardcore off-roading with features like Smart Crawl, an off-road cruise control that operates between 2.5kph and 30kph for smooth climbs. Another standout is Intelli Turn, which locks the rear inner wheel for sharp turns at speeds under 15kph, perfect for navigating tricky terrain.
Roxx 4×4 vs 4×2: What’s the Extra Premium For?
Opting for the 4×4 variants means paying an additional ₹1.8-2 lakh over the 4×2 variants, despite no extra features or safety enhancements. The price hike purely reflects the added off-road hardware.
Internal Competition: Thar Roxx vs Scorpio N and 3-Door Thar
Mahindra’s strategic pricing for the Thar Roxx creates competition with its models, including the 3-door Thar, priced between ₹11.35 lakh and ₹17.60 lakh, and the Scorpio N at ₹13.85 lakhs to ₹24.54 lakh. While the Scorpio N is marketed as a premium SUV, the Thar Roxx boasts superior ride quality, thanks to its wider track.
Taking on the Mid-Size SUV Segment
Thar Roxx doesn’t just compete within Mahindra’s lineup. It also stands strong against Mid-Size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate. Niche off-roaders like the Force Gurkha and Maruti Jimmny also enter the fray, but the Roxx holds its own with its rugged capabilities.
