KTM 390 Duke, 390 Adventure, 390 Enduro R & 390 SMC R Recalled for Engine Stalling Issue
KTM has announced a global recall for several motorcycles in its 390 lineup due to an engine stalling issue. But if you are a KTM owner in India, there’s nothing to worry about — models sold here are not part of this recall.
What is the issue?
KTM discovered that the engine may stall unexpectedly under low-RPM or deceleration conditions. Such situations are common during slow city riding or while making tight U-turns, which can cause riders to lose balance.
Which models are affected?
The recall covers:
- 2024–2026 KTM 390 Duke
- 2025–2026 KTM 390 Enduro R
- KTM 390 SMC R
- KTM 390 Adventure R
- KTM 390 Adventure X
All of these are international-spec models only, not the ones sold in India.
How is KTM fixing it?
The company has identified the problem within the ECU software. A fresh ECU flash will be installed free of cost at authorised KTM service centres worldwide. No mechanical parts will be changed.

What should owners do?
KTM will contact affected owners directly. Riders can also visit the nearest dealership to confirm eligibility and schedule the update. KTM states that the revised ECU tune will enhance low-end throttle response and smoothness.
Verdict
While the issue could be risky in slow and technical riding situations, KTM has taken quick action. For Indian riders, the good news is that our units remain unaffected. If you own one of these models abroad, get your ECU updated as soon as possible for a safer and smoother ride.
