BMW i7 Becomes India’s Best-Selling Luxury Sedan After Crossing 1,000 Sales
BMW has crossed an important milestone in India with the i7 recording over 1,000 unit sales, making it the country’s best-selling luxury sedan. For a flagship electric sedan priced at the top end of the market, this achievement underlines the growing acceptance of ultra-luxury EVs among Indian buyers.
Since its launch, the BMW i7 has emerged as the brand’s most successful high-end electric vehicle in India. Achieving four-digit sales in a segment traditionally dominated by petrol and diesel-powered luxury sedans highlights a clear shift in buyer preferences towards electric mobility without compromising on comfort, performance or brand value.
BMW i7 Crosses 1,000 Sales in India

BMW Group India confirmed that deliveries of the i7 have now crossed the 1,000-unit mark nationwide. This is a notable milestone given the limited volumes usually associated with flagship luxury sedans. The strong response has also helped the i7 become BMW India’s top-selling premium electric offering.

Commenting on the achievement, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said the i7 represents the brand’s vision of forward-looking luxury. He added that crossing 1,000 sales reflects strong customer resonance with its design, performance and technology-led luxury experience.
Why the BMW i7 Is Clicking With Indian Buyers
One of the key reasons behind the i7’s success is its distinctive design and strong road presence, highlighted by the split headlamp setup, illuminated kidney grille and crystal headlight elements. Inside, the focus is firmly on technology and rear-seat comfort, with features such as the BMW Interaction Bar, curved digital display and the 31-inch 8K Theatre Screen with Amazon Fire TV.
The BMW i7 is offered in two variants in India – the eDrive50 M Sport and the M70 xDrive – both powered by a 101.7 kWh battery pack. The eDrive50 delivers 449 hp and 650 Nm of torque, while the luxury sedan offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 603 km. Fast DC charging support of up to 195 kW allows the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 34 minutes, adding to its everyday usability.
