5 Upcoming Family MPVs Launching In India By 2027
The MPV market in India is entering a fresh growth cycle. Family buyers are shifting towards practical vehicles that balance space, efficiency, and affordability. Over the next two years, major automakers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Nissan and Citroën will introduce brand-new MPVs in both electric and petrol formats. These launches reflect a wider industry transition where brands want a stronger presence beyond SUVs.
Maruti Suzuki Compact MPV

Maruti’s new sub-four-metre MPV, expected around 2027 or later, aims to fill the gap below the Ertiga. The idea is to offer a compact family car with smart space management inspired by Japan’s Spacia. If Maruti pulls off its strong-hybrid plans, this MPV could become one of the most efficient people-movers in the country. It also hints at a broader strategy: Maruti wants hybrid tech to reach mass buyers.
Hyundai’s Premium MPV

Hyundai is preparing an MPV that will sit above most mainstream offerings. It may take design cues from the Stargazer sold globally. With only a handful of premium MPVs currently available, Hyundai’s entry could push the market into a more feature-rich direction. This arrival also shows Hyundai’s intent to diversify beyond SUVs and strengthen its family-focused portfolio.
Maruti Suzuki YMC Electric MPV

Maruti’s second major entry will be electric. Codenamed YMC, this three-row MPV is expected by late 2026 or early 2027. It will share its platform and battery technology with Maruti’s midsize electric SUV. The bigger story here is Maruti’s gradual EV push, which has been conservative so far. An electric MPV could also lead to a Toyota version, continuing the partnership between the two brands.
Citroën e-Spacetourer

Citroën is evaluating the e-Spacetourer for India, a multi-configuration electric MPV sold abroad. It uses a 75 kWh battery with a claimed 348 km range. If Citroën gives it a green light, India will get one of the few long-range electric MPVs on the market. This could attract fleet operators and large families looking for a premium EV alternative.
Nissan Gravite

Nissan’s Gravite will be one of the earliest arrivals, launching in January 2026 with deliveries beginning by March. It will share its foundation with the Renault Triber but feature Nissan’s own styling and positioning. High localisation will be a key part of its pricing approach, making it a strong budget-friendly option for families. Nissan is expected to offer the 1.0-litre petrol engine in both NA and turbo formats.
Why These MPVs Matter
India’s MPV buyers have long been underserved beyond the Ertiga and Innova families. The next two years will finally bring more choice. Compact MPVs will improve affordability, premium MPVs will raise segment expectations, and electric MPVs will create new alternatives for urban multi-seat mobility.
As the shift toward multiple body styles continues, these five models will play an important role in shaping India’s next wave of family vehicles.
