2026 Volkswagen Taigun Breaks Cover In India – Big Updates Inside & Out
The Volkswagen Taigun 2026 facelift has officially been revealed in India, bringing one of the biggest updates yet for the compact SUV. Along with a sharper design and feature upgrades, Volkswagen has finally introduced a new 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Design & Interior – More Premium Than Before
The updated Taigun now looks more modern with a redesigned grille featuring an LED light bar and illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear. The rear profile gets connected LED tail lamps with sequential indicators, while new alloy wheels and fresh colours add to the appeal.
Inside, the cabin feels more upmarket with a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. Volkswagen has also added an AI-powered voice assistant, capacitive climate controls and ambient lighting. Features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and sporty GT interiors further enhance the premium experience.
Engine, Gearbox & What It Means

Under the hood, the engine options remain unchanged with the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol units. However, the biggest update is the new 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0L engine, replacing the older unit and improving everyday drivability.
The 1.5L engine continues with the 7-speed DSG and adds efficiency tech like Active Cylinder Technology. With improved features, better comfort and strong safety credentials, the new Taigun now feels more competitive in the segment. Volkswagen has also confirmed a 4-year warranty package, with prices expected to be announced soon.
