2026 Tata Punch Achieves 5 Star Bharat NCAP

The 2026 Tata Punch has achieved a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, strengthening Tata Motors’ reputation for prioritising safety in the mass-market segment. In a category where affordability often comes before protection, the Punch’s crash test performance sends a strong message to buyers looking for a compact SUV with solid safety credentials.

Bharat NCAP crash test performance explained

In official Bharat NCAP results, the Tata Punch facelift scored 30.58 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. These scores were derived from a combination of frontal offset, side impact and side pole tests. Adult occupants were offered mostly ‘good’ levels of protection across critical body regions, while child safety performance stood out with full marks in dynamic and child seat installation assessments.

Both the 18-month-old and three-year-old child dummies were tested in rearward-facing child seats and recorded strong results in frontal and side impacts. This highlights the effectiveness of the Punch’s structure and restraint systems in real-world crash scenarios.

A key takeaway from the Bharat NCAP result is that the 5-star rating applies to the entire Punch range, even though specific variants were tested. Standard safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, ISOFIX mounts and tyre pressure monitoring contribute to this consistent performance. In comparison, several rivals in the segment still offer fewer safety features as standard.
