Triumph 400cc Bikes Become Costlier in 2026, Speed 400 Faces the Steepest Increase
Triumph’s 400cc lineup has entered 2026 with a quiet but meaningful price revision. The increases are not dramatic on paper, yet they underline how cost pressures are reshaping the affordable premium motorcycle space in India.
The Speed 400 sees the sharpest jump, moving past the Rs 2.39 lakh mark ex-showroom. In contrast, the Speed T4, Scrambler 400 variants and the recently launched Thruxton 400 have received smaller, almost incremental hikes. This uneven pricing adjustment is not accidental. The Speed 400 has been Triumph’s volume driver, and absorbing rising input costs on the most popular model was never sustainable in the long run.
What makes this move interesting is the timing. The GST restructuring introduced in late 2025 increased the tax burden on motorcycles above 350cc. Bajaj Auto, which manufactures Triumph’s 400cc range in India, had been cushioning part of this impact. The latest price correction suggests that buffer has now run out.
To soften the blow, Triumph is offering free accessories worth Rs 11,500 on select models. This strategy helps preserve perceived value without permanently discounting the motorcycle, a smart move in a segment where brand positioning matters as much as pricing.
For Indian buyers, this signals a broader trend. Entry-level premium bikes will no longer be insulated from policy changes and rising costs. Looking ahead, gradual price increases rather than sudden shocks are likely to become the norm, making early purchase decisions increasingly important.
