Toyota’s First Electric SUV for India to Debut Tomorrow

Toyota is set to unveil its first all-electric SUV for India, the Urban Cruiser EV, on January 20, 2026. The upcoming model marks Toyota’s entry into the mainstream electric SUV segment in the country.

The Urban Cruiser EV is expected to be a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara EV, featuring Toyota-specific exterior and interior design elements. It will be positioned against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

Power is likely to come from two LFP battery options, including a 48.8 kWh unit and a larger 61.1 kWh pack, both paired with a front-wheel-drive layout. Toyota is expected to claim a driving range of up to around 500 km on a single charge.

Prices for the Urban Cruiser EV are anticipated to fall in the Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
