Nissan Kait Revealed Globally – Could This Become the Next Kicks for India?
Nissan has officially unveiled a new compact SUV called the Kait in Latin America. It will replace the popular Kicks in several markets and serve as Nissan’s newest entry-level SUV globally. Production has already begun in Brazil, and exports to over 20 countries will start in 2026.
While India is not confirmed yet, the Kait hints at what could eventually replace the ageing Kicks in Nissan’s future plans for our market.
New Global Design Upgrade

The Nissan Kait sports a stronger stance with sharper split LED headlamps, a larger grille, new LED DRLs and redesigned alloy wheels. The rear gets fresh tail-lamps and a bold KAIT badge on the tailgate.
In size, it remains close to the Kicks, measuring 4,304 mm long with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. Boot space is rated at 432 litres, making it practical for daily family use.
Feature-Packed Interior
Despite being positioned as an entry-level global SUV, the Kait comes with modern tech such as:
- 7-inch digital instrument panel
- 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
- Wireless phone charging
- Digital climate control
- 60:40 split rear seat
- 360-degree camera
Higher trims will also receive ADAS safety features, boosting its tech appeal.
Engine, Performance & Mileage

Powering the Kait is a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 110 hp & 146 Nm, paired with a CVT gearbox. Nissan claims around 11 kmpl in city use, designed for low running costs rather than performance.
Will It Come to India?
For now, Nissan says the Kait is focused on South America first. But with the Kicks discontinued in India and Nissan expanding EV and SUV plans here, this model could eventually become a natural successor.
Pricing in Brazil starts at the equivalent of ₹20 lakh, although an India launch would require significant localisation to be competitive.

Conclusion
The Nissan Kait is a fresh step for the brand globally, offering improved design, more features and a modern cabin. If adapted for India with the right pricing and powertrain, it could help Nissan regain attention in the compact SUV space.
