This record marks a 42-year journey that began in 1983 with the iconic Maruti 800, a car that introduced affordable mobility to millions of Indian families and transformed the country’s automotive landscape.

42 Years of Growth and Trust

It took Maruti Suzuki 28 years and 2 months to sell its first crore cars, 7 years and 5 months to reach the second crore, and just 6 years and 4 months to achieve the third crore. The faster pace reflects Maruti’s expanding reach, strong product portfolio, and deep customer trust across both urban and rural markets.

Today, Maruti Suzuki retails 19 models with more than 170 variants across petrol, CNG, hybrid, and automatic options. This wide portfolio ensures there’s a Maruti for nearly every type of Indian car buyer.
