Mahindra XUV 7XO Teased For The First Time, Debut On January 5, 2026

Mahindra XUV 7XO Teased For The First Time

Mahindra has officially teased the XUV 7XO, confirming that the world premiere will take place on January 5, 2026. Following the successful transition of the XUV300 into the XUV 3XO, Mahindra is applying a similar branding strategy on the XUV700, which has already proven to be a strong volume driver in the premium SUV space since its launch in 2021.

A More Premium Take On The XUV700

The teaser video highlights a new LED lighting signature at the front and rear. The front gets boomerang-style LED DRLs, while the rear sees inverted L-shaped lights connected by a sleek horizontal light bar. These design cues appear to be inspired by the recently revealed XEV 9S.

Mahindra is also expected to introduce new alloy wheels, revised bumpers, a fresh grille design and additional colour options to enhance the road presence of the SUV.

Cabin To See Major Upgrades

While mechanical updates are unlikely, the interior is set for a major revamp. The XUV 7XO is expected to feature a triple-screen setup similar to the XEV 9S and XEV 9E, making it the first ICE-powered Mahindra SUV to adopt this premium display layout.

Features like built-in Alexa, 5G connectivity, Boss Mode and upgraded material quality will further elevate cabin appeal. A redesigned dashboard, centre console and steering wheel are also expected.

Powertrains Expected To Continue

Mahindra will likely retain the proven 2.2L mHawk diesel and 2.0L mStallion turbo-petrol engines, paired with six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes. The focus remains on premium feature enhancements rather than powertrain changes.

Positioning & Price Expectation

Currently, the XUV700 is priced from Rs 13.66 lakh to Rs 25.14 lakh (ex-showroom). With extensive feature additions and cosmetic enhancements, the XUV 7XO will command a higher price range.

Positioning relative to the XEV 9S will be interesting, as the base EV variant already offers Level 2 ADAS at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It is still unclear whether the existing XUV700 will continue to sell alongside the XUV 7XO in India.

India Relevance

The XUV 7XO will help Mahindra keep pace with fast-evolving customer expectations in the premium SUV segment, especially with growing demand for futuristic tech and digital in-car experiences. This refreshed identity could enhance the SUV’s appeal among young and tech-savvy Indian buyers in 2026.
