The updated Puma Gen-E now features a 46.8 kWh usable battery pack, replacing the previous 43 kWh unit. Ford says improvements to the internal battery design helped increase the WLTP driving range.

As a result, the electric crossover can now travel up to 259 miles (417 km) on a full charge, compared to 233 miles (376 km) previously. This makes the compact EV more practical for longer trips while still being primarily designed for urban driving.

Charging capability remains the same with support for up to 100 kW DC fast charging. However, due to the slightly larger battery, charging from 10 to 80 percent now takes about 26 minutes instead of 23 minutes.

Performance figures remain unchanged. The front-mounted electric motor continues to produce 165 hp and 290 Nm of torque, enabling the Puma Gen-E to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

BlueCruise Hands-Free Driving and New Tech

The latest update also introduces Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system to the Puma lineup. The technology allows the vehicle to control steering, acceleration, braking and lane positioning on pre-mapped highways.

Drivers can take their hands off the steering wheel in supported areas, although they must still keep their eyes on the road and remain ready to take control.

Inside, the Puma Gen-E comes with Ford’s Sync 4 infotainment system. It includes a 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch central touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

With the improved battery range and added driver assistance technology, the updated Puma Gen-E strengthens its position as one of Ford’s key electric models in Europe.
