Five New Affordable Electric SUVs Launching Soon

India’s electric vehicle market is entering a crucial phase, with several mass-market electric SUVs lined up for launch between early 2026 and mid-year. Until now, affordable EV choices have been limited; however, the next wave of products promises wider price coverage, improved range figures, and more body-style options. From compact city-focused EVs to family-friendly three-row models, buyers will soon have far more choice in the sub-Rs 25 lakh segment.

Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV, the eVitara, is scheduled to launch on January 13, 2026. The five-seater will be offered in Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants, with expected prices ranging from around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 22.5 lakh. Buyers will get a choice of two battery packs, including a larger 61.1 kWh unit with a claimed range of up to 543 km. Positioned as a rival to the Creta Electric and Mahindra BE6, the eVitara focuses on range, safety, and everyday usability.

Toyota’s Urban Cruiser EV will follow shortly after, launching on January 16, 2026. Essentially a rebadged version of the eVitara, it shares the same platform, battery options and powertrain. Pricing is expected to sit slightly higher, between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 26 lakh, reflecting Toyota’s premium positioning. The Urban Cruiser EV targets buyers looking for Toyota’s brand reputation and after-sales support, combined with a long-range electric SUV.

VinFast VF3

VinFast’s VF3 is expected to become one of the most affordable electric SUVs in India. With prices likely between Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, the compact two-door SUV is aimed squarely at urban users. Powered by a small battery pack with a claimed range of around 215 km, the VF3 is designed for city commutes rather than long-distance travel. Its compact size, rugged styling and relatively low entry price could make it attractive to first-time EV buyers.

The VinFast Limo Green takes a different approach, targeting buyers looking for a spacious electric MPV. Expected to launch in February 2026, the seven-seater is likely to be priced between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 24 lakh. It uses a larger battery pack with a claimed range of around 450 km and supports both AC and DC fast charging. The Limo Green aims to fill a gap for families wanting an electric people-mover without moving into luxury pricing territory.

Kia Syros EV

Kia is also preparing an electric version of the Syros, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2026. While official details are limited, the Syros EV is likely to be Kia’s most affordable electric offering in India. It is expected to feature battery options capable of delivering a claimed range of 300–400 km, positioning it as a practical and accessible EV SUV for a wider audience.

Why This Matters for Indian Buyers

These five upcoming electric SUVs cover a wide spread of price points and use cases, from budget-friendly city cars to family-oriented long-range vehicles. Combined with improving charging infrastructure, state-level incentives and advances in battery technology, they signal a shift toward more accessible electric mobility in India. For buyers considering the switch to EVs, 2026 could be the most important year yet for affordable electric SUVs.
