Tata Sierra EV To Get Dual Motor e-AWD; ICE AWD Also Under Evaluation
Tata Motors has confirmed that the upcoming Sierra EV will feature a dual-motor setup, enabling an e-AWD system. With the Sierra already introduced in ICE form, this future-ready electric version will strengthen Tata’s presence in India’s rapidly growing electric SUV market. The Sierra EV aims to offer improved performance, enhanced off-road ability and a premium driving experience when it launches in early 2026.
Sierra EV To Feature Twin-Motor AWD Setup
The Sierra EV is expected to share battery technology with the Harrier EV, targeting a range of over 500 km per charge. Features like bi-directional charging and enhanced traction control are likely to be a part of the package. The electric SUV is slated for launch in early 2026.
Tata showcased early teasers of the Sierra EV, focusing on modern styling and a tech-loaded cabin, which signals a premium positioning in the electric SUV segment.

ICE AWD Under Consideration
Tata has also indicated that an AWD option for the ICE Sierra is under evaluation. The current lineup includes a 1.5L petrol, a 1.5L TGDi turbo petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine, paired with manual, torque converter automatic and DCT gearbox choices.
If introduced later, an AWD variant will broaden the Sierra’s appeal among adventure enthusiasts and help it compete against future rivals in the midsize SUV space.
The Sierra range sits on Tata’s modular ARGOS platform. It supports multiple powertrains, advanced features like Level 2 ADAS and a premium cabin experience.
The Sierra AWD addition is expected to make Tata’s revived icon even more desirable when the electric model arrives in India.
