Suzuki GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition Revealed With 193 hp
Suzuki has officially revealed the GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition, celebrating four decades of the legendary GSX-R lineage. The updated model brings engine improvements, new aero winglets and retro-inspired liveries that pay tribute to the superbike’s racing roots. Priced at 17,599 pounds sterling in the UK (roughly Rs 20.52 lakh), the anniversary edition arrives with a stronger focus on performance, control and nostalgia.
Engine & Performance
Suzuki has updated the GSX-R1000R with a reworked 1000 cc inline-four engine. Key upgrades include a new crankshaft, crankcases, pistons and connecting rods, raising the compression ratio for better power delivery. The superbike now produces 193 hp at 13,200 rpm and 110 Nm at 11,000 rpm.
The variable valve timing (VVT) system continues, supported by a new fuel pump and upgraded injectors for improved throttle response. These changes aim to enhance real-world performance, making the GSX-R1000R more capable on track and highways.

Chassis, Brakes & Handling
The GSX-R1000R uses a twin-spar aluminium frame with Showa Balance Free Forks and a Balance Free shock. Suzuki has also introduced hollow carbon winglets to increase high-speed downforce without sacrificing stability.
Braking duties are handled by Brembo monobloc four-piston callipers paired with 320 mm floating discs. A new lightweight ABS unit has been added for better control, while Bridgestone RS11 tyres ensure high levels of grip and cornering confidence.
Electronics & Rider Aids
Suzuki has equipped the GSX-R1000R Anniversary Edition with an extensive electronics package, including:
- Six-axis IMU
- Suzuki Roll Torque Control System (RTCS)
- 10-level anti-wheelie control
- Lean-sensitive ABS
- Launch control
- Slope-dependent braking
- Bi-directional quickshifter
- Low-RPM assist
These rider aids allow the GSX-R1000R to deliver a more predictable and responsive riding experience, especially during aggressive riding.
Design & Anniversary Details
The 40th Anniversary Edition embraces the GSX-R’s iconic past with three retro liveries:
- Blue with white accents
- Red with white accents
- Yellow with matte blue accents
Each version gets a 40th anniversary badge on the fairing and tank, a retro “R” logo on the bellypan and special branding on the seat and silencer. The addition of carbon winglets and subtle updates gives the bike a modern superbike appeal while retaining classic GSX-R cues.
