Porsche Panamera Recalled in India Over Airbag Fault, 158 Units Affected

Porsche panamera recalled in india over airbag fault

Porsche has issued a voluntary recall for the Panamera in India, impacting a total of 158 units. The luxury carmaker detected a potential fault in the airbag system that could delay deployment during a crash, prompting immediate action to ensure passenger safety.

Recall Details

According to information published on the SIAM website, the recall affects Porsche Panamera models produced between July 19, 2023, and September 2, 2025. The issue stems from a manufacturing error in the cabling of the crash sensors located in the door trim panel.

If the sensor is incorrectly assigned, it may delay side airbag deployment in specific collision scenarios, potentially increasing the risk of injury. Porsche has emphasized that the recall is precautionary and part of its global safety compliance strategy.

What Owners Should Do

Owners of the affected Panamera units will be contacted directly by Porsche India to schedule free repairs at authorised service centres. Alternatively, customers can visit Porsche’s official recall portal and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to confirm if their car falls under the recall campaign.

The inspection and rectification process will be carried out free of charge, ensuring the vehicles meet Porsche’s safety standards.

Previous and Global Recalls

Earlier this year, Porsche had also recalled 142 Panamera units in Australia due to a similar airbag-related issue. In India, this marks Porsche’s second recall in 2025, following the recall of the Porsche 991 in March due to a seat belt fault.

These actions highlight Porsche’s proactive approach to addressing safety concerns promptly and maintaining customer trust.

Verdict

While the recall affects a limited number of units, Porsche’s swift response underscores its commitment to safety and transparency. Panamera owners are encouraged to verify their vehicle’s recall status and ensure the necessary updates are completed to maintain optimal safety standards.
