MG Windsor EV Hits 50,000 Sales in Just 400 Days
The MG Windsor EV has achieved a breakthrough by crossing 50,000 sales in just 400 days, making it India’s fastest-selling electric car. This milestone highlights the rapid rise of the EV segment and the strong market response to MG’s value-driven electric crossover.
MG Windsor EV Crosses 50,000 Sales in Record Time
The Windsor EV averaged around five units sold every hour during its initial months. It recorded 15,176 bookings within 24 hours of its October 2024 launch. JSW MG Motor India says this milestone reflects growing trust in the brand and rising demand for practical, feature-rich EVs in India.
Why the MG Windsor EV Became So Popular
Aggressive pricing, smart packaging and a practical range are the key reasons behind Windsor’s success. With the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option starting at Rs. 9.99 lakh and a per-km battery usage fee, the model appeals strongly to first-time EV buyers. Its aerodynamic crossover design and comfortable cabin also help it stand out.
Battery Options and Range
The Windsor EV is offered with two battery sizes: a 38 kWh pack and a larger 52.9 kWh option. The latter delivers an impressive 449 km range on a full charge (ARAI certified). This makes the Windsor suitable for both city commutes and longer weekend trips.
Powertrain and Performance
The electric motor produces up to 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque, offering smooth and responsive performance. Its refined motor and balanced driving dynamics make it an easy-to-drive EV for both new and experienced drivers.
Inspire and Pro Editions Expand the Lineup
MG recently introduced the limited-run Windsor Inspire Edition, priced at Rs. 16.65 lakh (ex-showroom). It brings a refreshed look and additional equipment. The range also includes the Essence Pro and Exclusive Pro variants, equipped with a 52.9 kWh battery and features like Level 2 ADAS, vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities.

Battery-as-a-Service Makes EV Ownership More Accessible
The BaaS programme lowers the entry price significantly. Customers can buy the Windsor Pro at Rs. 13.09 lakh under BaaS and pay Rs. 4.5 per km for battery usage. For those preferring outright ownership, the fully owned version starts at Rs. 18.09 lakh.
A Big Boost to MG’s EV Growth in India
The Windsor’s blockbuster sales also helped MG cross the 1 lakh EV sales milestone in India. With expanding editions, strong range figures and competitive pricing, the Windsor EV continues to lead India’s growing electric car market.
The MG Windsor EV’s rapid success shows the changing mindset of Indian buyers who are now more confident about shifting to electric mobility. Its blend of range, features and affordability makes it one of the most influential EVs in the country today.
