Mahindra’s Much-Awaited EV Hits the Roads

Indian manufacturer Mahindra has officially started deliveries of the XEV 9e, its latest born-electric SUV. Launched last year, this electric SUV has a starting price of Rs. 21.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be delivered in a phased manner.

Strong Demand and Pre-Bookings

Pre-bookings for the XEV 9e began on February 14, and it quickly gained popularity. Along with the BE 6, Mahindra received over 30,000 bookings in just a few hours. Out of these, the XEV 9e accounted for 56% of the demand. The top-spec Pack Three variant with a 79 kWh battery pack was the most popular choice, making up 73% of the total bookings.

Battery Options and Performance

The XEV 9e is available with two battery options: a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh pack. The smaller battery produces 228 BHP and 380 Nm of torque, while the larger one delivers 282 BHP and the same torque output. Both variants offer impressive driving ranges—542 km for the 59 kWh version and 656 km for the 79 kWh model.

This electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, offering a thrilling driving experience. Charging is also efficient, with the ability to go from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a fast DC charger.

Feature-Packed Interior

Inside, the Mahindra XEV 9e offers a futuristic and premium cabin. It features three large 12.3-inch high-resolution screens, which Mahindra calls the “Cinemascope Cockpit.” Rear passengers also get two entertainment screens for an immersive experience.

The SUV comes equipped with a VisionX Augmented Reality HUD, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor, and a sophisticated AI-based system called MAIA. Other premium touches include ventilated leatherette seats, multi-zone climate control, and a panoramic glass roof with dynamic lighting.

Advanced Safety and Technology

Mahindra has packed the XEV 9e with top-tier safety and driver-assist features. The SUV boasts Level 2+ ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and seven airbags. It also comes with an advanced parking assist system and a high-strength body structure to enhance crash safety.

First Deliveries and Initial Customer Response

The first customer deliveries have already begun, with Pawan K Goenka being one of the first owners to receive his vehicle. A delivery event in Rajasthan marked the occasion, where Pawan and his family were handed the keys to their brand-new Mahindra XEV 9e. Mahindra is prioritizing deliveries of the high-end Pack Three variant before moving on to the lower trims.

With its powerful performance, cutting-edge features, and impressive range, the Mahindra XEV 9e is set to make a strong impact in India’s growing EV market. As more customers get their hands on this electric SUV, it will be exciting to see how it performs on Indian roads.
