Ktm 390 enduro r india launch teased

KTM has officially teased the launch of the 390 Enduro R in India. This will be the most hardcore off-road motorcycle from the brand, designed primarily for trail riding. After its global debut at EICMA 2024 and a showcase at India Bike Week 2024, the bike is expected to hit Indian roads by mid-April 2025. Bookings have been open since December 2024 for a refundable Rs 1,999.

Design & Off-Road Focus

The 390 Enduro R stays true to its Enduro DNA with a minimalistic design. The reduced body panels help lower weight and make repairs more affordable in case of falls. Unlike the 390 Adventure, which balances touring and off-road capability, the Enduro R is purely built for rugged terrain.

The bike features a high stance, aggressive front fender, and wire-spoke wheels, making it an ideal companion for trail riding. The lightweight frame enhances its agility, allowing riders to tackle rough terrain with confidence.

Engine & Performance

Powering the 390 Enduro R is a 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It delivers 45PS and 39Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. This engine is shared with the third-gen KTM 390 Duke and the new 390 Adventure models.

Despite its off-road focus, the motor provides enough grunt for occasional highway stretches. However, its real strength lies in tackling dirt tracks and rocky paths.

Suspension & Braking

The 390 Enduro R features a trellis frame and fully adjustable WP Apex suspension. It offers 230mm of wheel travel on both ends, ensuring superior shock absorption on rough surfaces. The inverted fork has rebound and compression adjustability, while the monoshock allows for pre-load and rebound tuning.

The bike rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke setup with tubeless off-road tyres. Braking duties are handled by a 285mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. With a ground clearance of 272mm and a seat height of 890mm, the bike is purpose-built for adventure enthusiasts.

Features & Technology

KTM has equipped the 390 Enduro R with a 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster. It includes Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, and KTM app integration.

The bike also features LED lighting, adjustable brake and clutch levers, and two riding modes: Street and Offroad. The dedicated ABS switch allows riders to disable ABS in off-road mode, offering greater control on tricky terrain.

Price & Competition

KTM is expected to price the 390 Enduro R at around Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom). It doesn’t have a direct competitor in India, though the Kawasaki KLX230 falls within the same price range but offers significantly lower performance.

Conclusion

The KTM 390 Enduro R is an exciting addition for off-road enthusiasts. It promises better trail capability than the 390 Adventure while being more affordable. However, its small 9-litre fuel tank may require frequent refueling.

For those serious about off-roading, this bike could be the perfect choice. KTM is about to redefine off-road motorcycling in India with this launch.
