Jaguar Electric GT Launch Pushed to 2026 After Cyberattack Disruption
Jaguar’s Electric Comeback Faces Delay
Tata Motors-owned Jaguar has postponed the debut of its all-electric four-door grand tourer from late 2025 to 2026. The delay marks another setback for the brand as it works to reinvent itself as a fully electric luxury marque.
Cyberattack Forces Operational Shutdown
In August 2025, a severe cyberattack crippled Jaguar Land Rover’s IT systems, halting operations at major UK facilities in Solihull, Halewood, and Wolverhampton. The incident caused widespread production and order disruptions, contributing to the postponement of Jaguar’s electric GT launch.
Jaguar’s Empty Lineup and Revival Challenge
Currently, Jaguar’s lineup is almost barren, with no active models in production. The delay deepens the gap between Jaguar and Land Rover, whose SUV range continues to perform well globally. The electric GT is central to Jaguar’s revival strategy, envisioned as its flagship EV.
New Launch Timeline and Global Plans
The new grand tourer will now enter production in North America by mid-2026, with European and Asian rollouts expected later that year. The India launch could follow in 2027, depending on demand for luxury EVs.
Expected Rivals and Market Positioning
Positioned as a high-performance electric GT, the model will rival the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. It promises a blend of Jaguar’s classic design DNA and modern EV technology, aimed at restoring the brand’s identity in the luxury performance segment.
