BMW Motorrad isn’t slowing down. After showcasing the R12 G/S, the brand is now ready to reveal its next heavyweight—the BMW R 1300 R. Scheduled to debut globally on April 10, this new roadster brings the iconic Boxer engine to a more street-oriented package.

Compared to the S 1000 R or M 1000 R, this motorcycle promises a unique personality-less track-focused, more dynamic everyday performance.

BMW Motorrad has not yet shared Indian launch specifics. However, given the rising popularity of big bikes in India, we can expect it to arrive via the CBU route before year-end.

Author’s Take

BMW is clearly targeting thrill-seeking riders who want the Boxer character without going the ADV route. If priced competitively, the R 1300 R could shake up the premium naked segment. This is a bike “born for bends,” and we can’t wait to see how it performs on real roads.
