Mahindra XEV 9S Launched at ₹19.95 Lakh: India’s First 7-Seater Electric SUV
Mahindra has taken a big step in the Indian EV space with the launch of the XEV 9S. This is the first time an electric SUV with proper three-row seating has arrived below the ₹20 lakh mark, giving large families a real EV option without luxury pricing.
A New Chapter for Electric SUVs in India
The XEV 9S is built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform — a pure EV architecture designed for better interior space and range efficiency. The exterior looks bold yet familiar for Indian buyers shifting from ICE SUVs.
Pricing, Variants and Range Options
Mahindra is offering the XEV 9S with three battery pack choices and six variant configurations.
| Variant | Battery | Price (Ex-showroom) | Claimed Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pack One Above | 59 kWh | ₹19.95 lakh | 521 km |
| Pack One Above | 79 kWh | ₹21.95 lakh | 679 km |
| Pack Two Above | 70 kWh | ₹24.45 lakh | 600 km |
| Pack Two Above | 79 kWh | ₹25.45 lakh | 679 km |
| Pack Three | 79 kWh | ₹27.35 lakh | 679 km |
| Pack Three Above | 79 kWh | ₹29.45 lakh | 679 km |
This pricing makes it the most affordable 3-row electric SUV currently on sale in India.
Designed for Indian Families

The XEV 9S offers seven seats with a long wheelbase, ensuring usable third-row space.
Boot capacity is 527 litres, with the third row down enough for big travel bags. A 150-litre frunk adds bonus storage for daily needs.
Inside, the cabin feels premium thanks to a triple-screen dashboard layout, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and connected car features. Sliding and reclining second-row seats also improve comfort on long drives.
Powertrain and Performance
The electric setup offers quick acceleration with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 7 seconds on the higher variants. Top speed is rated at 202 km/h. Charging options include fast-charging support to cut downtime during trips. Daily commutes and weekend highway use should be easy with ranges going up to 679 km.
Where It Stands in the Market

The XEV 9S has no direct rival yet. Other 3-row electric options like MPVs don’t offer the SUV stance and practicality buyers want. With competitive pricing and feature balance, Mahindra has created its own new niche.
Verdict
For buyers looking to shift from petrol or diesel SUVs to electric power without losing space or comfort, the XEV 9S is a strong value-packed option. It gives families room to grow, tech to enjoy and the EV future without overpaying.
